# Sydney Founders – Community Terms & Privacy Notice

Welcome to Sydney Founders. Our goal is to create a trusted community where founders, entrepreneurs, investors, advisors, and startup professionals can connect, learn, collaborate, and support one another.

Membership is free but requires agreement with the following terms and community standards.

## 1. Membership Requirements

1. Members must maintain a profile that can be viewed by other members of the community.

2. Members are expected to participate in the community and attend meetups from time to time. Sydney Founders is intended to be a community of real people and real relationships rather than a purely virtual network.

3. Members must provide accurate information about themselves and their professional activities.

4. Membership may be suspended or terminated at the discretion of the moderators if a member acts contrary to the spirit, values, or interests of the community.

## 2. Community Conduct

1. Members must treat one another with respect, professionalism, and courtesy.

2. Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, threats, abusive conduct, or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.

3. Members should contribute positively to discussions and support the growth and success of fellow members.

4. Members must comply with all applicable laws and regulations in their interactions with other members.

## 3. Privacy and Confidentiality

1. We do our best to respect and protect the privacy of our members.

2. However, Sydney Founders cannot guarantee the confidentiality, security, or privacy of information shared within the community, at events, or through member-to-member communications.

3. Members should only share information that they are comfortable becoming public.

4. Members are solely responsible for protecting their own confidential, commercial, personal, and intellectual property information.

5. Unless explicitly agreed otherwise by all parties involved, discussions and communications within the community should not be assumed to be confidential.

## 4. Intellectual Property

1. Members retain ownership of their own intellectual property, including ideas, inventions, software, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and other proprietary rights.

2. Participation in Sydney Founders does not create any ownership interest, licence, partnership, joint venture, agency relationship, or legal obligation between members.

3. Members are encouraged to obtain independent legal advice before disclosing information they consider commercially sensitive.

## 5. Networking and Business Relationships

1. Sydney Founders exists to facilitate networking, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

2. Any business, employment, investment, advisory, partnership, contractor, or commercial relationship entered into between members is solely the responsibility of those parties.

3. Members are responsible for conducting their own due diligence before entering into any commercial arrangement.

4. Sydney Founders, its organisers, moderators, volunteers, and members do not guarantee, endorse, verify, or accept responsibility for opportunities, investments, services, products, claims, or representations made by any member.

## 6. Events and Participation

1. Participation in community events is voluntary and undertaken at the member's own risk.

2. Members are responsible for their own safety, transportation, accommodation, insurance, and personal belongings.

3. Organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to, or remove individuals from, events where necessary to protect the safety, wellbeing, or integrity of the community.

## 7. Communications and Promotion

1. Members must not engage in spam, harassment, excessive solicitation, or repeated unwanted promotional activity.

2. Reasonable promotion of startups, products, services, events, fundraising activities, and opportunities is encouraged when relevant and beneficial to the community.

3. Members should act in good faith and avoid misleading, deceptive, or dishonest conduct.

## 8. Photography, Media, and Recordings

1. Photographs, videos, audio recordings, and other media may be captured during events and community activities.

2. By attending events, members acknowledge that they may appear in such media.

3. Sydney Founders may use such media for community, educational, promotional, marketing, and historical purposes.

4. Members who prefer not to appear in media should notify organisers where reasonably practical.

## 9. Limitation of Liability

1. Sydney Founders is a networking and community platform only.

2. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sydney Founders, its organisers, moderators, volunteers, and affiliates accept no liability for any loss, damage, claim, dispute, injury, cost, business outcome, investment decision, commercial arrangement, or other consequence arising from participation in the community.

3. Members participate in the community at their own discretion and risk.

## 10. Changes to Terms

1. These terms may be updated from time to time as the community evolves.

2. Continued participation in Sydney Founders constitutes acceptance of the most current version of these terms.

## 11. Community Spirit

Sydney Founders exists to help founders and startup professionals build meaningful relationships, share knowledge, support one another, and contribute positively to the Australian startup ecosystem.

Members are expected to act in good faith, maintain a collaborative mindset, and contribute to a culture of trust, respect, generosity, and mutual success.
